Two roads to retrocausality

چکیده
In recent years the quantum foundations community has seen increasing interest in possibility of using retrocausality as a route to rejecting conclusions Bell’s theorem and restoring locality physics. On other hand, it also been argued that accepting nonlocality leads form retrocausality. this article we seek elucidate relationship between locality. We begin by providing brief schema various ways which violations inequalities might lead us consider some then possible motivations for rescue locality, arguing none these is sufficient show local retrocausal theories should always be preferred nonlocal theories, therefore there no clear reason focus research efforts entirely on seeking models. Next, examine several different conceptions retrocausality, concluding ‘all-at-once’ more coherent than alternative dynamical picture. argue since approach requires probabilities assigned entire histories, not playing any crucial role within Thus conclude way may right Finally, demonstrate existence insisting nonexistence reference frames naturally acceptance albeit one mediated physical systems travelling backwards time. natural motivate models mechanics.

Quantum Mechanics and Retrocausality
The classical electrodynamics of point charges can be made nite by the introduction of e ects that temporally precede their causes The idea of retrocausal ity is also inherent in the Feynman propagators of quantum electrodynamics The notion allows a new understanding of the violation of the Bell inequalities and of the world view revealed by quantum mechanics
متن کاملToy Models for Retrocausality
A number of writers have been attracted to the idea that some of the peculiarities ofquantum theory might be manifestations of ‘backward’ or ‘retro’ causality, underlying thequantum description. This idea has been explored in the literature in two main ways:firstly in a variety of explicit models of quantum systems, and secondly at a concep-tual level. This note introduces a...

Sarcoidosis is a mysterious, long-recognized disease characterized by the formation of tuberculosis-like granulomas in the lungs. The mystery of sarcoidosis stems from both its unknown etiology and its paradoxical effects on the immune system. The disease has been attributed to a hyperactivation of CD4 T helper type 1 cells that infiltrate the lungs but, in patients with sarcoidosis, these very...
متن کاملRetrocausality at no extra cost
One obstacle faced by proposals of retrocausal influences in quantum mechanics is the perceived high conceptual cost of making such a proposal. I assemble here a metaphysical picture consistent with the possibility of retrocausality and not precluded by the known physical structure of our reality. This picture employs two relatively well-established positions—the block universe model of time an...
متن کاملIdentity negotiation: where two roads meet.
This article traces a program of research on the interplay between social thought and social interaction. Early investigations of the impact of perceivers' expectancies on the actions of target individuals illuminated the contribution of perceivers to the identity negotiation process but overlooked the role of targets. The research discussed here is based on the assumption that targets play an ...
